We're Here to Listen
In psychotherapy sessions, we'll embark on a collaborative journey focused on your unique needs, goals, and experiences. Together, we'll explore various aspects of your life, emotions, thoughts, and behaviors, fostering self-awareness, insight, and empowerment. Here are some of the key areas we may work on:
Establishing a trusting and supportive therapeutic relationship is fundamental. We'll work on creating a safe and non-judgmental space where you feel comfortable expressing yourself and exploring your innermost thoughts and feelings.
We'll delve into your personal history, including significant life events, relationships, and experiences that may have shaped your beliefs, behaviors, and coping mechanisms. Understanding these patterns can provide valuable insight into your current challenges and strengths.
Together, we'll clarify your therapy goals and priorities. Whether you're seeking relief from symptoms of anxiety or depression, healing from past trauma, improving relationships, or pursuing personal growth, we'll collaboratively define the outcomes you hope to achieve.
e'll explore practical coping strategies and skills to help you navigate life's challenges more effectively. This may include relaxation techniques, mindfulness practices, cognitive restructuring, and emotion regulation strategies tailored to your unique needs.
f you've experienced trauma or are struggling with difficult emotions, we'll work together to process and integrate these experiences in a safe and supportive environment. Through evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) or trauma-focused cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), we'll help you move towards healing and resilience.
We'll explore your relational dynamics and communication patterns, whether in romantic partnerships, family relationships, friendships, or professional settings. Together, we'll develop effective communication skills, boundary-setting techniques, and strategies for building healthier, more fulfilling connections.
Central to our work together is cultivating self-compassion, self-acceptance, and self-empowerment. We'll explore ways to challenge self-criticism, cultivate a more nurturing inner dialogue, and embrace your inherent worth and resilience.
We'll explore your sense of identity, values, and purpose, helping you clarify what matters most to you and align your actions with your authentic self. This process of self-discovery can lead to greater fulfillment, meaning, and alignment with your life's goals and aspirations.
Throughout our therapeutic journey, I'll provide guidance, support, and feedback, empowering you to tap into your inner resources, navigate life's challenges, and cultivate a more fulfilling and meaningful life. Together, we'll work towards positive change, growth, and transformation.

More About Michelle
Choosing a psychotherapist is a deeply personal decision, and it's essential to find someone who not only has the right expertise but also feels like a good fit for you personally. Here are some reasons why you might consider choosing me as your psychotherapist:
Credentials
My professional experience includes 13 years working in Public Child Welfare. Additionally I have conducted research funded by the California Endowment and the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) on studies including: the Pathways to Wellness Study (alzheimer's, dementia, depression in the geriatric population), the Michigan Prisoner Reentry Project (recidivism, geo-coding), Sexual Assault Prevention with the Valley Trauma Center, The Latino Adolescents and Resiliency project and Civic Engagement within the Hip Hop Generation. I also completed my thesis on Black Female Achievement in Predominately White Educational Institutions.
Outside the office
I enjoy spending time with my family, walking, jogging, and drinking iced coffee with oat milk. I am fascinated about brain-health and how the brain is impacted based on exposure to trauma, diet, environment, exercise and other factors.
Growth work is about you learning how to manage and move through where you are, and what you have, in a different way.
Healing work is going back to uproot or to dig up the causes of certain habitual, unconscious, systemic behaviors and beliefs.
No Matter where you are, my work is to help you along your journey.
Phone calls are difficult as I am working all day. The best way to contact me is via email: zealview@michellehartzog.com All sessions are conducted virtually via a telehealth video platform. It's convenient, easy and accessible anywhere.
